Aerosol Nightmares 7/8-7/9
This past weekend I got the opportunity thru a good friend Richie, to paint a piece at the “Aerosol Nightmares” event in Detroit, MI. It brought graffiti writers from around the city and country together to show their skills. I’m not a graffiti artist at all, I don’t pretend to be. But I respect the nerve of these guys who risks there freedom and their lives for there art. Some extremely talented folks were showin their asses out! and I was lucky to be allowed to paint amongst them.
Everybody was super cool and respectful. A lot of people who follow me from social media came by and said whaddup to me, and it was cool to get to put some names to faces. I think the best part was just to be welcomed in the space, and how many of them really liked my piece. I think that’s the best part of art, is when you can have that sense of community around a shared interest. Alot of the artist asked me what i write, and I didnt really have an answer. I just told them I’m a dude that likes to paint, and they were cool with that.
We all kind of dealt with a little bit of weather. It rained on and off the first day, and I got enough of my piece done on the first day that I was ok with calling it a day a little early. But the following day we were blessed with some good painting weather, and I was able to knock out my signature tire piece.
The tire piece comes natural to me, I can make them look cool really easy. I’m still fairly new to aerosol painting, and painting the tires is something I can do, while also practicing can control and learn how to manipulate the can to get the desired effects I want.
Below are a few pictures of the process from start to finish of the whole process coming together.
